You’ve got all this time on your hands now. For so long you’ve been overwhelmed with frivolous activities, dates, hangouts and the humdrum of everyday life. Even your current job is hindering you from chasing your dreams. The same job you keep to pay the bills. And it takes up so much time in your calendar. But not anymore…
Now you’ve got time!
And yet, instead of picking up the drawing board, you dream in front of the television. You swipe past the hundredth government press conference and drown yourself in the memes. With your thumb on the joystick, you yearn to forget the insidiousness of reality. The growing cases and deaths, the dwindling economy, and the awful reminder that your social life is somewhere in the middle of autumn.
But now that you’re reading this, you’ve realised that you’ve been wasting time. And so you make it a goal to chase your dreams.
Of course, if you were really passionate about them, you would already be chasing them.
Practice Makes Perfect
Ah, the sage wisdom of “practice makes perfect.” But underneath that condescending tone, it’s true. You can do anything if you put your mind to it. And that doesn’t mean you’re gonna get there sooner rather than later. But if you waste the time you have now, it will be later.
Much later…
However, you don’t need to waste money on a university degree or a mentor to get there. Of course, if you feel it’s necessary, then go for it! But you still have the power to learn anything for a lot less.
University textbooks aren’t restricted to students. You can buy them anywhere for the price of a pizza or two. And there are plenty of blogs and online magazines where you can delve into your true interests. Hell, even YouTube is a place to learn.
Did you know that most drag queens today study the art of makeup through YouTube videos? And not just once, they do it again and again and again. They experiment. They meet fellow queens and learn from them, too. And they keep progressing.
Or that writers learn much of their craft by writing daily? (And reading a lot too.)
Or that a painter’s techniques come from hours and hours of painting?
That’s the secret to getting anywhere in life. You just gotta keep doing it, and keep progressing at it, and eventually, you’ll be its master.
Plan For The Future

Indeed, the opportunities of getting into your desired industry now may be limited right now, but that doesn’t mean you can’t learn about it. And if you really want to get into it when everything goes back to normal, you should be learning it now.
At the current trajectory, vaccines are reaching new milestones. We could possibly see a vaccine by the end of this year. And by January, the world could revert to its classic old self.
And when that happens, where will you be? Will you have a full drawing board, teeming with endless possibilities? Or will wake up from your TV-induced hibernation and spend the morning searching for your pen?
Don’t waste the entirety of this pandemic on mind-numbing junk. Spend it on your dreams!
BUT DON’T BURN YOURSELF OUT!
Give yourself a break from time to time…
